The Ukrainian Premier League traditionally holds a vote to determine the Coach and Player of the Month in the UPL Championship. The selection process consists of two stages.
At the first stage, UPL.TV commentators and experts, along with media representatives, review each round and select the best coach, the best player and the Team of the Round.
Four rounds were played in the UPL Championship in August. Based on the results of those rounds, four coaches and eight players were shortlisted for the Coach of the Month and Player of the Month awards.
The second stage involved two separate votes: one among fans online and another among UPL.TV commentators and experts and media representatives, with 40 experts taking part this time. The candidates earned points in each poll, which were converted into percentages. The fan and expert results were then combined to determine the winners.
Karpaty attacking player Yan Kostenko has been named the Ukrainian Premier League Player of the Month for August. He featured in three victories for the Lviv side — against Kryvbas (4–1), LNZ (3–0) and Bukovyna (3–0) — and was one of the key figures in those matches, creating chances, scoring goals and helping his teammates.
The Poltava academy graduate, who joined the Lviv club at the initiative of Myron Markevych, finished in the top 10 of the Player of the Round voting after all three of those rounds, including two top-five finishes.
The experts ranked Kostenko second, with first place going to Karpaty’s Brazilian UPL debutant Fellipe, while the fans gave the largest share of their votes to Kostenko. The combined results saw Kostenko finish as the UPL’s best player in August.

In the coaching category, Spanish specialist Francisco Fernández claimed the award after guiding Karpaty to 10 points from a possible 12 — the best record in the UPL in August. He was named Coach of the Round twice and finished second on another occasion.
Fernández was also the clear winner of the Coach of the Month vote, finishing first in both the expert and fan polls.
