UPL and Ukrainian Football Club Representatives Participate in 2025 UEC Football Forum

The event brought together over 200 representatives from European football clubs, leagues, and associations, as well as delegates from the European Commission. The forum’s primary focus was on shaping a new governance model for European football built on transparency, equality, and solidarity.

During the discussions, participants emphasized that the governance system of football in Europe requires further reform to reduce the imbalance between clubs and to enhance the competitiveness of national championships.

In their speeches, European Commission representatives stressed the importance of ensuring that football governance aligns with European Union legal principles — specifically democratic foundations, accountability, and the transparent participation of clubs in decision-making processes.

Special attention was given to two key initiatives presented by the UEC, aimed at supporting the sustainable development of European football:

  • Player Development Reward — a new mechanism to encourage clubs that invest in the development and training of young players;
  • Domestic Media Rights Protection Policy — a policy designed to protect domestic media rights, which includes implementing financial compensation tools to benefit national championships.
